EdifyOnline (“Company”) recognizes and respects the privacy of teaching facilitators when they use EdifyInstructorTM application. To ensure transparency, the Company provides full disclosure of its intent in the following sections, to best of its knowledge, as below:
Teaching facilitators are free to dedicate as much or as little time they consider optimum to facilitate a course. The Company neither mandates any minimum or maximum teaching facilitating time nor supervises the teaching facilitator. The purpose to record facilitation time is to develop an understanding between time spent in facilitation of a course, teaching pedagogy, and student learning outcome.
The EdifyInstructorTM application is a self-management tool. With the help of EdifyInstructorTM and EdifySnapTM (awaiting a final deployment), teaching facilitator can self-manage his/her time to deliver the most optimum student learning outcome.
The Extension (application) records active online time spent in facilitating a course on client’s platform. This data is transparent and available to teaching facilitator, the Company staff, and university/institution staff.
The Company requires Teaching Facilitator to install EdifyInstructor™ to Google Chrome by downloading the extension from the Web Store (Only available on Google Chrome – Edge and Firefox versions are not available yet). The Company requires the Teaching Facilitator to sign into their EdifyOnline account and enable the extension during each of their teaching engagements.
EdifyInstructor™ is a low profile, set-and-forget Google Chrome Extension acting as a bridge between EdifyOnline and client’s platforms (e.g. edX, whiteboard, canvas, blackboard, and other platforms). It is easily installed on Teaching Facilitators’ desk top or laptop computer.
EdifyOnline only reports on the online facilitation time for each specific facilitation engagement/course. No other personal information and/or behavioral activities are reported. The EdifyInstructor™ extension does not alter teaching workflow. The EdifyInstructor™ logs IP addresses, the type of operating system that the teaching facilitator’s computer uses, the type of browser software used by the teaching facilitator, and the time spent in facilitating a course by the teaching facilitator on designated education forum platforms. It is critical to note that EdifyOnline only has access to the above information ONLY WHILE THE EXTENSION IS ENABLED, and the teaching facilitator is accessing course related to EdifyOnline URLs. Currently, the access is only available when the instructor is on EdifyOnline and EdX related URLs. Future versions will include access to other course related URLs accessed via Educational Institution’s Learning Management System (LMS) such as, but not limited to, Canvas and Blackboard. Any activity on other web URLs not related to the teaching facilitation IS NOT ACCESIBLE to EdifyOnline or any other 3rd party with the EdifyInstructor™ Google Chrome Extension.
Of the above information that is accessible with the EdifyInstructor™ technology, only the following information is stored and maintained by EdifyOnline.
The Company uses the aggregate data to perform statistical analyses against other data collected from outside sources to determine overall success of student learning outcomes.
The facilitating time is recorded daily but displayed after mid-night, the following day. The time curve is available (24/7) to Company, university/institution, and the teaching facilitator.

Total daily/weekly facilitation time is summarized on a “total activity” curve. Each Curve is tied to a teaching facilitator for a specific university/institution, specific course identification, with course’s start and end dates. The Curve contains approximate hours/day, hours/week, running average, and suggested baseline (min/max) hours/week. Teaching facilitators are subject matter experts, they are free to share their knowledge, skills, and wisdom to deliver the best student learning outcome as they see fit. The Curve is simply a self-governing tool for their convenience.
Yes. The Curve data is available to teaching facilitator and the authorized staff of Company and university/institution (24/7).
The Company hopes to develop a better understanding of various elements that affect student learning outcomes. The education experts believe elements such as teaching pedagogy, course design, course contents difficulty, students’ learning ability and students’ participation in classroom contribute to total learning outcome. The weightage of each element to total learning outcome is not known. What is hoped, however, that student’s sentiments (negative or positive) when collected and evaluated regularly, in a disciplined environment, may enlighten us with useful insights. In that context, knowing facilitation time and student learning outcome is the first step.
Since the student learning outcome is an important focus of EdifyOnline exchange, the Company reserves the rights to amend, alter, develop, deploy its software applications and/or use 3rd party innovative solutions and tools to observe and/or improve students learning outcome when needed. The teaching facilitators always remain free to self-evaluate their performance and adjust their time of engagement and teaching pedagogy style accordingly. The Company also reserves the rights to use the aggregate data to perform statistical analyses and/or compare it against other data collected from outside sources to determine overall success of student learning outcomes.
The data is protected both online and offline. Online, the data is encrypted and transmitted in a secure way. Offline, the data access is granted only to responsible persons in the Company, university/ institutions, and teaching facilitator. The computers/servers where the data is stored are kept in a secure environment.
By downloading EdifyInstructor™ on your personal devices, you grant the Company a royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive right and license to use, reproduce, modify, and adapt. You agree that the Company may allow subscribers (such as educational and professional institutions, faculty of universities & colleges, research scientists - education academia and professional institutions, in general) to access, display, view, store and reproduce such content for educational purposes.
You warrant that the holder of any rights to any information that you submit has completely waived all such rights and granted to you the right to agree to the license stated above. The Company is under no obligation to monitor information on the web site, but it may monitor items as it sees fit. The Company reserves the right to hire professionals and/or use consultants, when needed, to interpret the items as to the standards and acceptable content therein. By accepting these Terms and Conditions, you assume sole responsibility for the accuracy of your own facilitating time. The Company makes no representations or guarantees regarding the truthfulness, accuracy, completeness, timeliness or reliability of any time reported by teaching facilitator. By accepting these Terms and Conditions, you agree to use this extension application at your own risk.
